The Manna of Knowledge

Manna:

1. Food that God supplied miraculously to the Israelites so they could survive in their journey through the desert.
2. Gift received for free.

Nowadays, when postmodern capitalism has spread to all the different dimensions of life, and at a moment when economic instability is used as a pretext to expand the liberal model which has proved its perversity, by dismantling the civil rights of the welfare state (a state that today is thought to be naïve and unviable), the government´s worries are reduced to the creation of employment. An kind of employment capable of providing new capital flows to the population. Any other social responsibility, such as cultural investment, seems to be secondary or superficial. However, it is necessary to allow citizens to reflect and generate critical thinking through which they acquire a mature vision of their own world. It is necessary to allow citizens to gain access to the Manna of Knowledge. It is essential preserve the public access to culture, because culture also feeds us.

Maná:
